Mod Op partnered with Genius.com, the world's biggest music encyclopedia, to connect brands with their community of readers and contributors.
Hand in hand with their brand partner, Remy Martin, we created a highly interactive website that takes visitors on a journey through black musical history, as a part of the brand’s Team up for Excellence Campaign. Hosted by Usher, and starting in 1917, the site guides users through an in-depth audiovisual journey that touches on jazz, blues, hip hop and R&B. As users scroll through the site, they encounter a seamless trip from the past to the present, complete with expert commentary, thrilling video content, and lots of dancing.
With so much important historical ground to cover, and so many assets to incorporate, Mod Op was tasked with creating a user experience that would feel seamless, compelling and reverent to the artists involved. Blocks of text are mixed with historical and contemporary photography, as well as audio content that keeps users engaged and wanting to see what comes next in the timeline. We added build animations, pops of color and parallax on scroll to keep the experience exciting and fresh every step of the way.
The result is a fun and fascinating site that pays homage to the rich tradition of black music, and Remy Martin’s place in it, by informing and entertaining users at the same time.
