36th District Court

Located in Wayne County, downtown Detroit's 36th District Court is the largest district court in the state of Michigan and one of the busiest courts in the United States. Servicing the population of Wayne County, the court has 29 judges, 5 magistrates and approximately 300 employees. Annually, about 1 million citizens conduct business at the court and just under 500,000 telephone and email inquiries are received.

Redesigning and reimagining a court’s web presence involved a lot more than just a fresh look. The design and development teams at Enqbator worked in partnership with the administration and technical teams at the 36th District Court to completely understand all aspects of the project from both a technical and usability standpoint.

In the end, what resulted was the best final product geared toward the needs of those needing the services of Michigan’s top district court system. The 36th District Court website is the main informational hub that services hundreds of thousands of people each year, so it was pivotal to create an easy-to-use but visually appealing design that let the court communicate effectively with its users.
