We were asked by the hardworking team over at Cloudhead Studios to create an exciting launch trailer for Pistol Whip: 2089, the largest DLC they've ever made for their flagship VR game. We were excited to start shooting some bad guys in-sync with incredible music by Magic Sword, so we went in guns blazing.
Cloudhead Studios asked us to essentially create two trailers in one. They wanted an opening section, similar to an accolades trailer, that would help the viewer get a good look at the base game of Pistol Whip, followed by a transition into a main launch trailer for their newest DLC, Pistol Whip: 2089. To accomplish this, we created title sequences that were made up of the numerous accolades the game received, and combined it with our state of the art gameplay capture, with a mix of cinematic gameplay and direct first person capture. We combined this montage with VFX work to create the illusion of a transmission interrupting the opening trailer. We then built the entire main trailer around selected VO moments from the campaign. We combined this with cinematic gameplay capture, intense first person capture, and a light remix of an incredible music track from Magic Sword. We also created the main title sequences to really help sell the intensity of each section of the trailer.
It was an honor creating something for one of the highest rated games on the Oculus platform, and we can't wait for you to try this new campaign for Pistol Whip.
