She must now find the culprit among the ghostly denizens of the market, learning about their lives before the market, as well as their untimely deaths.
Welcome to Caribbean Noir. This is the original soundtrack to the game Duppy Detective Tashia.
When Glen Henry of SpriteWrench set out to build the trailer for Duppy Detective Tashia handed reference material to Chase Bethea with one directive: think cinematic noir — mysterious, atmospheric, unmistakably Caribbean, and deeply spooky. What followed was not just a trailer, but the accidental birth of a new musical genre. After realizing that no amount of production tricks could manufacture the visceral, low-end pulse that makes Caribbean music feel alive, multi-award winning video game composer, Chase Bethea, made a decision that defines the entire project. He bought a bass guitar and taught himself to play from scratch, with zero prior training. That real, human bass became the heartbeat of a sound he now calls "Caribbean Noir," a new game music genre they pioneered built from the ground up over three years of refinement.
The result is a seven-track soundtrack that anchors Duppy Detective Tashia as a narrative-cinematic experience first. A project conceived to prove the concept visually and sonically before anything else. The foundation was laid by the scoring trailer to lock in rhythm and emotional cadence, and every creative decision since has served that original vision: moody, grounded, and authentic/ original. In a media landscape crowded with derivative genre blends, "Caribbean Noir" stands apart as a legitimate artistic statement earned through three years of disciplined, self-directed craft.
