The Client The ESRC Centre for Digital Futures at Work (Digit) is a prestigious academic powerhouse at the forefront of investigating the digital transformation of the workplace. Jointly led by the University of Sussex and Leeds Business Schools, Digit collaborates with a global network of partners, including Cambridge, Manchester, Monash, and the Institute for the Future of Work. The Challenge Digit’s existing visual identity had become a barrier to its mission. The brand was aesthetically outdated and lacked the structural guidelines required for a multi-institution collaboration. This friction was compounded by a strategic name change that meant a rebrand was the only option. Most critically, the legacy brand failed to meet modern accessibility standards. For a research centre dedicated to the future of work, an exclusionary colour palette and illegible design were no longer viable. Digit required a complete transformation that balanced academic authority with digital-first inclusivity. The Solution We developed a dynamic visual identity rooted in the themes of progression and connection. Visual Language: The new system utilises a sophisticated interlinks arrows and dots, symbolising forward momentum, data flow, and the interconnected nature of the digital economy. Accessibility First: We engineered a vibrant, high-contrast colour palette from the ground up to ensure WCAG compliance and usability across digital and print. Unified Ecosystem: A cohesive logo and comprehensive brand guidelines were created to provide unity between all partner insitutions. The Impact The rebrand was seamlessly integrated across a full suite of marketing materials, including: Physical Presence: High-impact roll-up banners for international conferences. Digital Reach: Adaptive social media templates and accessible presentation decks. Professional Identity: Refined business cards and corporate stationery. The result is a brand that reflects Digit’s status as a world leader, reflecting their modern, interconnected, and accessible values.
