The Ongoing Future, AI Art Exhibition is an immersive art exhibition jointly created by Lenovo and UCCA Lab, centered on the theme of AI civilization. The exhibition brings together 11 interdisciplinary artists and presents 12 independent yet interconnected theatrical spaces, developed over two years of collaborative effort. Through a performative and dynamic spatial design, the exhibition translates the invisibility of AI into a tangible, physically perceptible experience.
The exhibition design is inspired by the rapid emergence and everyday application of artificial intelligence technology in China. UCCA Lab employs art curation and exhibition design as methods to translate AI from an abstract concept into a tangible, interactive, and physically perceptible experience. Through immersive environments, audiovisual narratives, and multimedia art installations, the exhibition presents how AI is reshaping perception, collaboration, and the imagination of civilization.
The exhibition uses acrylic spheres, translucent structures, mirror surfaces, seamless terrazzo flooring, and programmable lighting to blur the boundaries between walls, ceilings, and floors, delivering a sense of being enveloped by AI. Together with robotic arms and VR technology, it allows visitors to experience AI computational, collaborative, and generative logic through walking, pausing, and interacting.
Upon entering the exhibition, the space is awakened, lighting, sound, and certain works shift progressively in response to visitor movement and presence. Visitors move sequentially through different theatrical spaces. At the exit, they pass through the Hemisphere Gate, a symbol of AI origin, returning to reality and completing a full cycle from the virtual to the real, and from the future back to the present.
The spatial design intentionally utilizes dynamic lighting and interactive art pieces. By employing a more conceptual spatial language, it fosters an immersive experience where spatial boundaries seem to fade away, encouraging audiences to reevaluate and comprehend the essence of AI civilization.
