New Taipei E-sports Champion: Fantasy Fruit Island Adventure

To address the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the nationwide restrictions on large gatherings, New Taipei City took the initiative to integrate health literacy into esports gaming by creating the educational and entertaining game “New Taipei E-sports Champion: Fantasy Fruit Island Adventure.” This game features a classic RPG dungeon structure and is linked to New Taipei City’s existing “Parent-Teacher-Student Platform.” Through exploration, monster battles, and teamwork, students can acquire health knowledge in an engaging and interactive manner. Original characters, including Dr. Health, a nutritionist, and nine Health Knights, along with locally inspired partners and villain characters, strengthen the connection to the community and enhance the storytelling.

The game incorporates the dietary model, enabling students to collect fruit-themed cards and assemble a virtual plate. This interactive experience helps them understand essential nutrition concepts, such as reducing salt and sugar intake and embracing whole grains. In 2024, the game's platform and bandwidth support were fully optimized to bridge the digital divide.Students not only learn while playing, but they also apply this knowledge in their daily family life by reminding family members to check nutrition labels and sharing healthy habits.

New Taipei City has optimized the experience for tablets and low-bandwidth environments to ensure broader access throughout the city. This project combines interactivity, education, and local culture to create an innovative health-learning ecosystem, establishing a new benchmark for digital education and public health promotion.
