“Basketball is not the only thing that we can do in life. Once that’s done, you still have more life to live. You’re always unfinished.”
Those words, from former NBA guard Brandon Jennings, typed out onto a black screen, open a video that tells the story of a unique event during the NBA's All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. There, Reingold helped support the NBA Player Development team in hosting standout first- and second-year players. The theme of the event: “Our stories are all unfinished.”
Afterward, this video captured the night – but we took a different approach to the traditional sizzle reel.
Reingold set out to capture the intimate, custom tone of the event with the video’s visuals, sounds, and storytelling. We combined interviews, live audio and footage, and the custom graphics that were used for the event. That included the unique poster illustrations that we created for each attendee.
In the sizzle reel, we sought to showcase the experience, while also sharing some of the "behind the scenes" and the impact on the players. The arc of the video takes viewers through the event, ending with a message from Jamila Wideman, head of Player Development, who greeted attendees by encouraging and reminding them that--today and every day--our stories are all unfinished.
