About The Entry

A small organization of local Sherpa set out to solve the problem of waste management around Mt. Everest. Facing an explosive expansion of tourism in the last few decades, they work to turn the tide of trash and plastic from the mountains - one visitor at a time.

Through their innovative solution called "Carry Me Back", the organization has come up with a way of crowdsourcing a solution for the trash and waste problems by allowing tourists to be part of the solution. Each tourist can bring grab a bag filled with recycled waste and bring with them back from the Khumbu region to be recycled as they exit their plane at Kathmandu.
