The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) initiated Engendering Industries in 2015 to enhance gender equality in the global power sector. As the program expanded, the capacity of the USAID.gov site to host its information reached its limit. Mobomo was contracted to develop a dedicated website that will serve as a comprehensive platform for Engendering Industries’ program information, impact stories, resources, and digitized tools.

Key objectives in the website's development included digitizing the Best Practices Framework for 100+ partner organizations, implementing real-time visualization with automated data updates, creating a living dashboard for program results, and developing an interactive map showcasing program partners. Additionally, a searchable multimedia library was integrated for videos, stories, case studies, and guides.

Mobomo collaborated with USAID to define toolsets that deliver value to end users, positioning the Engendering Industries website as a long-term resource for organizations worldwide committed to gender equality. The information architecture was reorganized and consolidated, with the main navigation streamlined into three categories of grouped content.

A notable feature is an interactive tool that allows the user to assess their organization's gender equality position, collect recommendations and construct a downloadable roadmap for achieving goals. This feature includes a quiz that provides users with a score and detailed feedback, allowing them to mark topics of interest. Marked topics are then compiled into the downloadable plan, complete with actionable items for dissemination within organizations. The content developed for this tool was scrutinized and honed such that it will be valuable across all industries and cultures.

Engendering Industries' website now stands as a comprehensive resource for sharing program information and is a dynamic tool for organizations committed to advancing gender equality in the global power sector. The platform's design, development, and special features contribute to its value as an accessible resource for organizations worldwide.
