Florida International University’s Next Horizon capital campaign set out to raise $750 million in support of student success and research excellence. In its third year of the public phase, they needed a new way to tell the stories of impact made possible by the philanthropic support of key initiatives. Specifically, they sought a way to put faces to these initiatives in order to humanize them and more personally connect with supporters.
What was created?:
As the Agency of Record for the campaign since its inception, we had the historical experience and depth of knowledge to identify key voices of the university community that could effectively bring to life the importance and impact of giving. Through the use of video, a series of stories from alumni, researchers, and students were created — two of which are included as part of this submission. The suite of assets included a long-form video for events, web, and donor engagement, as well as short edits optimized for social and paid media efforts.
What were the results?
Exceeded Campaign Goal: To-date the campaign has surpassed the original $750M campaign goal by 2.5%
Increased Online Engagement: During the promotional launch period for these videos, website traffic increased by 16% and unique visits increased by 14%
Efficient Use of Paid Media: The video featuring Dr. Richard Olson yielded a 5.45% click-thru-rate (CTR) and very cost-effective $0.48 cost-per-click (CPC)
