With our client’s development of their popular title Black Mesa having concluded, and no further updates and improvements being made to the project - the task given by our client was to keep the community engaged and entertained. With the lack of new content for the game, as it is an over 15-year-old project - this was a major undertaking. This included maintaining the relationship with the community and plan out different social media activations to not only engage the existing community but grow it further while the developers focus on their future IP. Over the last 3 months, we hosted several social media events such as:
Holiday Secret Scientist Giveaway with Gleam.io giveaway with Newly launched Merch prizes.
Community Hat Contest where several community members had to wear Black Mesa themed hats and submit it for the competition
Black Mesa themed Valentine's Day Baking Contest with members displaying their Valentine's Day/Black Mesa themed baked goods
With many others in the pipeline
The results of this has been over 94.7k organic reach and 12k engagement on Facebook over 90 days. Twitter amassed 370k impressions over 2 months and had an engagement rate between 4.5% and 3.4%. The community has been more engaged than ever which has also spilled over onto their Discord server. We were able to achieve this all with player-generated fan art, drawings, photos, and content because there’s nothing new coming into Black Mesa except for the creativity of its community that we’ve tapped into.
