Lili is an all-in-one banking app designed for freelancers and side-hustlers. Launched in late 2019, Lili is recommended by the Freelancers Union and trusted by more than 300,000 freelancers across all 50 states. Lili is dedicated to reinventing banking for the modern workforce. Freelancers, self-employed and gig-workers are the backbone of America’s new economy – 50% of Gen Z freelanced in 2020 – and are largely underserved by traditional banks.
In May 2021, we produced a series of How To videos in Brooklyn explaining the functionalities of the Lili app and financial tools. True to our mission of empowering freelancers, everyone on set was a freelancer, from the actor, to the gaffer, to the hair and make-up artist. At lunch break, after hearing about Lili all morning, crew members on set wanted to know more about how to sign up. More than once at the end of a take, someone in the studio would say something like: “I definitely could us that!” or “Wow, that is such a cool feature!” Eventually, someone said “Damn, I need that,” and our ad was written.
It is part of Lili’s mission to educate, inform and inspire freelancers of all trades and walks of life to take control of their finances. We want to remove the fear and trepidation most freelancers experience at the beginning of their journey by providing them with all the tools they need to run their business finances – checking account, invoices, tax savings, expense reports, – in one simple app, and find that work/life balance we’re all looking for.
This commercial is a celebration of artists and creatives with all skillsets, showcasing that Lili is the perfect tool for creators, a rapidly growing and underbanked section of the working population.
