The purpose of our work was to re-platform the website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 with code ready for Drupal 9. In the process, we removed significant technical debt that had accumulated over time and created an easy-to-manage, functional website. We re-built the theme in Gesso, migrated content from D7, integrated with the Smithsonian's Collection Management system, and used Feeds to allow for the ongoing import of content from other Smithsonian systems.
