Merveille Kavira Luneghe, a senior reporter at Global Press Journal, was born and raised in Kirumba, a small town in the heart of Democratic Republic of Congo’s embattled North Kivu province. This first-person narrative examines Merveille’s life growing up in place generally associated with tragedy. But her story is one of peace, chaos and everything in between. This is the story of why so many people choose to go, and why she will always choose to stay.
