The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) has developed a patient testimonial video series to demonstrate to the public that oral and maxillofacial surgeons (OMSs) are the best option for specific treatments. The patient-centered video concept was developed because: 1) The videos are authentic, dramatic and impactful; 2) Consumers feel a connection with the personal stories; 3) For patients with similar conditions, the narrative portrays the positive outcomes they would seek; and 4) This patient-centered evolution in medical information videos is a reaction to the consumers’ ability to select practitioners to receive treatments.
Each video was edited into three lengths (the longest of which is included as part of the awards submission) for various public-facing websites, AAOMS member websites and social media accounts.
