The Maine Department of the Secretary of State (SOS) oversees several bureaus including driver's services, business services, elections, and archives. The SOS has made available key facts, data, and even study guides for student use throughout the state and beyond. Used by more than 400,000 students and teachers in 2018 alone, the site is visited annually by visitors in all 50 US states as well as an additional 90+ regions including Tel Aviv, Wales, Victoria, West Bengal and England. In addition to a fun layout, easy to read descriptions about key Maine figures, wildlife, symbols, and plants, the site also offers interactive games such as the Vanity Plate Jumble to engage students and get them excited to learn about the great state of Maine.
