1 Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your background.

I

2 What made you become/why did you choose to become a digital designer/artist?

I've always wanted to be a designer since I was a child. I was interested in the communication between people and technology, so I studied Interaction Design. Now I'm working as a UX/UI designer who loves to explore and design memorable experiences for users by utilizing my skills and strategies.

3 Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

I currently work for American Honda Motors. My department is responsible for creating user interfaces and apps for the next generation of vehicles and concepts for future human-machine interfaces deployed through mobility platforms. We also interact with engineers, researchers, and designers from other departments throughout the organization to support the development of functional interior design prototypes.

4 What’s your favorite kind of digital design and why?

I like designing new digital feature concepts that can improve or enhance the user experience. Every moment of ideating and designing something is meaningful and fun for me, so I can

5 To you, what makes a “good” design?

I consider usability and understandability to evaluate the design. Good design provides a very positive experience for people. To make a

6 Describe your design style and its main characteristics.

I value simplicity and usability when I design interactions or interfaces for my users. I also consider aesthetics because users nowadays have very high expectations because they interact with many fascinating products. Since I'm a UX/UI designer, I heavily rely on digital tools to create prototypes. I often use Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, and Protopie. Sometimes I have to mock up some physical prototypes to check the usability. When there is a new project, I always start with research to understand what I should create and deliver, and I always try to keep everything simple.

7 Tell us about your design process.

I create an affinity diagram and interview people to understand the current situation during the initial stage. After discovering pain points from the interview, I ideate possible solutions. I also create a low-fidelity mockup and test the prototype with the group of research participants. I do A/B testing with participants multiple times before finalizing my product design.

8 Where do you draw inspiration from?

I get inspirations from everywhere. Sometimes from good design works, books and interviews.

9 What current trends in digital design (or really anything digital related) are you most excited about?

There are so many emerging digital design trends, so I

10 Congratulations! As the winner of the 2022 Vega Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?

It means we created something amazing! So I

11 Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2022 Vega Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

As the new environment has brought advantages and disadvantages, I wanted to develop an innovative product for the remote work environment with my teammates because the current methods make people feel disconnected and onboarding more difficult for new employees. I think what we created is great, so I decided to enter into the 2022 Vega Awards.

12 What was the biggest challenge with this project?

It was challenging to figure out the core needs for the current remote work environment. We also had to ask multiple questions to develop our initial product idea. After we decided to set managers as target users for our product because of the product's scalability, we had to spend an extensive amount of time building the ideal user journey for our target users. Simplifying the complicated information on the interface design was also challenging.

13 How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?

The preparation process for the Vega Awards was enjoyable. I also like how I can see great works from others, so it

15 What makes your country specifically, unique in the digital industry?

I live in California, USA. There are a lot of tech companies, so I get inspired by them all the time. I can go to many interesting digital design conferences in California. California also has great weather. I like working as a designer in California with the nice weather every day.

16 Where do you see the evolution of digital industry going over the next 5-10 years?

The emergence of new technologies and tech-savvy users will bring a new trend. I don't know where we are heading next because I always see so many unexpected great works. I'm looking forward to seeing new emerging trends.

17 If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring Vega Award submitter, what advice would you give them?

Always trust yourself and be positive!

18 What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the digital industry?

Practice the UI prototyping skills because these skills will help you to build your mock-up. This skill is important because it helps people understand what you are developing.
