About The Entry
Clean Cut Meals is a high-protein, chef-designed ready-meal brand, founded in a Galway kitchen by Conor and Micheal and now stocked in more than 700 SuperValu and Centra stores nationwide. The challenge was clear: take the brand out of the “gym food” box and make high-protein eating feel relevant, desirable and achievable for everyday busy people.
Our answer was “Fuel for Real Life”. Rather than speaking only to fitness fanatics, we built the brand around the nurse finishing a shift, the busy parent, the county player after training and the office worker with no time to cook. A five-pillar content system gave every post a role, balancing appetite, convenience, credibility, culture and personality.
Because Clean Cut Meals sells through retail rather than an owned checkout, social had to do more than generate engagement. We therefore led with appetite and personality instead of clinical macro messaging. Fast-cut “No Time to Cook” reels, protein comparisons, quizzes and personality formats turned functional nutrition into content people actually wanted to watch and share.
The founders’ Galway story, told by Conor and Micheal themselves, gave the brand a human credibility larger competitors could not replicate. An official GAA partnership, Hyrox, Wellfest and reactive cultural moments helped Clean Cut Meals show up naturally in the occasions its audience already cared about.
The strategy was organic-first, supported by just €5,000 in paid media across the first three months. It generated more than 2.9 million views across Instagram and TikTok, added 5,000+ Instagram followers and doubled the brand’s TikTok following. Selected paid activity achieved click-through rates of up to 12% and video-through rates above 30%. Most importantly, “Fuel for Real Life” became more than a line. It became a repeatable brand system that moved protein food beyond bodybuilding culture and into everyday Irish life, supported by creators, UGC, retail, out-of-home and live experiences.
The result was a challenger brand behaving less like a functional food product and more like part of everyday culture. Clean Cut Meals did not abandon protein marketing. It made protein mean more to more people: from gym fuel to Fuel for Real Life.
