Chameleon Season 1 is the first season of a streamed cybersecurity series targeted at employees in organisations around the globe as part of their security awareness training.
Chameleon are a team of professional penetration testers who excel at getting into places they shouldn’t be able to go and retrieving information they shouldn’t be able to reach. This exciting and engaging series follows an eclectic team of cybersecurity experts as they use the latest tools and tricks of the trade to test the strength of their clients’ security. Each standalone episode covers one or more security issues, utilising fast-paced storytelling and quirky humour to demonstrate very real threats.
The series has been specifically developed to present audiences with authentic hacking and social engineering scenarios demonstrating realistic and relatable threats, with characters frequently breaking the fourth wall to explain how a hack works directly to the audience. Season 1 is composed of 6 x 4 minute standalone episodes which occur within the same world and share a core cast of characters.
The creative challenge was to build a format for the series and create characters that are immediately recognisable and relatable, even if a viewer only watches a single episode. Telling individual stories in a shared world enables the episodes to be deployed flexibly, whilst also establishing and expanding the rules and parameters of the Chameleon ‘universe’ and our recurring cast across multiple episodes. The short-form nature of the individual episodes grants us the flexibility to adapt the style and tone of each to suit the needs of a specific topic, while keeping the overall flavour of the series.
Chameleon launched on the KnowBe4 platform in February 2025. The first season covers issues such as spear-phishing, social media, physical security, pretexting and external devices. Originally produced in English, Chameleon has been dubbed or subtitled into 35 languages. The series has proven extremely popular with audiences, receiving consistently high ratings across all episodes - leading to the commission of further seasons.
