The story of this project began one autumn day, when a man walked into our studio carrying a hard drive. Inside it were more than six thousand Armenian folktales and legends — each one preserving the dialect, rhythm, and spirit of the region it came from. His vision was to create a digital home for these voices and stories — a place where Armenian heritage could be heard, seen, and felt by people around the world.

From that vision, Radio Heqiat (“Radio Tale”) was born — a website devoted to broadcasting traditional Armenian stories and legends. The goal was not only to archive them but to craft a deeply immersive experience that helps younger generations, including those living abroad, rediscover their roots through sound and design.

Because the website speaks in Armenian, the design became its own language — one built from color, rhythm, and form to evoke emotion beyond language. Our challenge was to express the soul of the culture visually — through typography, texture, and motion. We drew inspiration from artists like David Hakim and William Saroyan, whose work captures both nostalgia and imagination. Their expressive use of color and form guided the tone: warm, poetic, and touched with magic.

To bring this atmosphere to life, we created custom illustrations inspired by Armenian folklore and the hand-painted storytelling of past generations. Each visual element was crafted to accompany the audio recordings, turning listening into a multi-sensory experience. The result is a platform that feels intimate and alive — one where every sound, texture, and color connects the listener to their heritage.

Over time, the library has grown beyond Armenian folktales to include works by foreign authors and world legends, celebrating the universal language of storytelling. Through this project, we hoped to create a sense of wonder — and we hope you feel it too!
