PROBLEM:

India celebrates numerous festivals every year, each marked by immense splendour and joy. Yet, the origins and rich history of these festivals have remained shrouded in mystery, particularly to the younger generation of India.

CULTURAL CONTEXT:

Indians hold a deep reverence for their deities, especially for Lord Ganesh. However, over 130 years ago, the way in which this deity was celebrated underwent a profound transformation. This shift sparked widespread celebrations, drawing in vast crowds of devotees.

IDEA:

At its core, the creative vision was to shed light on the origins and historical significance of the Ganesh festival through a captivating digital video generated through Artificial Intelligence.

CHALLENGES:

The meticulous execution of the campaign overcame several challenges, including ensuring historical and cultural accuracy while recreating the 1800s India. Thorough research and attention to detail ensured successful portrayal of the festival's historical context with utmost precision.

EXECUTION:

AI tools like MidJourney and Runway ML were harnessed to create a diverse array of visuals capturing pivotal moments from the festival's history in 1800s India. These visuals were complemented by a powerful voiceover of acclaimed Indian actor Shreyas Talpade.

A captivating narrative was crafted by AI, leading the audience on a visual exploration of the obstacles faced by Indians in celebrating festivals under British colonial rule. This showcased how the vision of freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak empowered Indians to defy oppression and uphold their traditions by celebrating the first-ever mass-scale Ganesh festival.

The video culminated with the on-ground unveiling of a monumental Ganesh idol crafted entirely from over 35,000 Pulse candies, installed at the iconic Lalbaugcha Raja marquee in Mumbai. This physical manifestation seamlessly complemented the digital narrative, captivating audiences both online and on-ground.

RESULTS:

With the Pulse of Defiance campaign, Pulse Candy became one of the early adopters of Artificial Intelligence for digital storytelling. The results spoke volumes of the campaign's success, with over 2.5 million online reach and 4 million direct on-ground impressions. Media coverage from prestigious publications further solidified its impact, earning positive sentiments and commendations for its educational and cultural significance.
