A recent global survey conducted by Ivanti included over 8,400 professionals comprising office workers, IT experts, security professionals, and C-suite executives to identify and comprehend the ongoing issues, expectations and perceptions among the modern workforce towards remote and hybrid working flexibility. The 2023 Everywhere Work Report explores the disparity between employees' preferences and what their organizations provide regarding flexible work arrangements.
The research results uncovered that both employees and employers remain at odds over defining the working environment, particularly concerning time, location and work method. One critical insight revealed that approximately 71% of workers prefer a flexible working arrangement that permits them to work remotely or through a hybrid model. However, only 43% are provided this freedom by their companies, leading to a 'preference gap' of 28%.
Many companies hesitate to adopt new ways of working and often regard virtual work as an experimental phase. The findings of this study highlight that a considerable number of employees are feeling the adverse effects of this skepticism, especially those below 40.
