The Hawai’i Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) sought to accurately use data to offer more value to subscribers for their upcoming travels to Hawai’i. The challenge: how to use survey learnings to further engage HVCB’s audience and offer more to their subscribers by generating clicks and increased HVCB app downloads.
The answer to this challenge was to first gather data. People filled out a survey about which island they would like to travel to. Next, it was time to run with these survey learnings and engage the audience. A dynamic email was sent to subscribers based on their survey island preference customized with information about attractions and things to do specific to that island—each island had its own custom email.
These specialized features for each destination allowed travelers to meet their destinations before they even arrived. The welcoming tone paired with unique guided information for each version created a customized email series fit for high engagement. The beach-inspired designs, stunning imagery, and alluring copy truly illustrated what each Hawaiian Island had to offer.
Thanks to the highly targeted strategy, HVCB communication experienced robust engagement — open rates as high as 80.3% and click through rates as high as 32.6%. A true story of success, inspiring subscribers to plan their own Hawaiian getaways!
