The challenge in developing a product launch video for Revolution tattoo ink, was to break the mold of cliche tattoo imagery (skulls, spiderwebs, and flames) used on most tattoo industry products, and present an elevated and superior product. We worked with legendary tattoo artist, Nikko Hurtado, to create an aesthetic that not only fit the product he created but that matched the persona of Nikko himself. Using black and white photography, we were able to create contrast with the reveal of the colored pigment, creating a hero in the story. We also opted to use sound design instead of traditional music, to help create a moody environment. Combining both lifestyle images with closeup macro shots, and in-studio images of the product help to achieve an elevated and impactful look for the product.
