Covid-19 created an unprecedented challenge for ITV, with the majority of productions halted and major sporting events that would have been broadcast on the channel postponed. ITV Hub – ITV’s catch-up service – had to reposition itself as somewhere where viewers could discover a whole range of content wherever, whenever and however they choose. As ITV’s partner on Hub, Candyspace set about transforming the experience of the platform across devices to deliver on that promise.
In collaboration with ITV, Candyspace transformed the UX of episode pages; created visual merchandising tags; gave more control over the player; added the ability to favourite content; enhanced the onward journey post-episode; improved the home screen rails and much more.
As a result, despite the circumstances the number of ITV Hub registered users grew by 6% in 2020 versus 2019 and online revenue grew by 17%.
